Age: 3
Weight: 52 lbs but needs to gain about 15 lbs
Breed: Pittie
Dog friendly: tested well at shelter. Will need slow and proper introductions
Cat friendly: no cats
Kids: yes
House Trained: yes
Ideal home environment: family that is home more often than not, and wants to include Fiona in their family activities.
Opportunities for improvement: Fiona is well behaved overall, but does not know basic commands yet. She needs a family that will continue to work on basic obedience and boundaries. She is a bit timid and is still coming out of her shell, and she must have been abused in her prior life because some quick movements by adults (moving too quickly to pet her from a standing position, waving stick like objects, etc) cause her to cower. Fiona is very interested in dogs on walks. She is still decompressing so we stay across the street from dogs, but her owner will need to work on focusing on the handler not on dogs or other distractions on walks. Fiona sleeps well in her crate overnight. Fiona is still getting used to the crate when her foster family leaves, so we recommend that her forever family continue to reinforce crate training, but refrain from long stretches away without Fiona, as she really wants to be with her people as much as possible.
Fun facts: Fiona is excellent with kids. She is very gentle and just wants to be loved. She has the cutest snore when she sleeps too. We haven't figured out if she's just still decompressing or if this is her personality, but she sleeps A LOT. Poor girl clearly had a rough past. Fiona loves to find awkward places to sit, like on piles of clean laundry and on laps when you sit on the floor. From the looks of it, Fiona was overbred before she ended up in the shelter. As a result, her body is still recovering from all of the litters she cared for, and she should gain at least 10-15lbs.

If you're looking to give the sweetest pup, who's had a really rough past, a new outlook on life from here on out, along with some basic training, Fiona's your girl! 💜
